Art.1: CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
The competition is open to anyone with an officially recognized sight impairment (less than 30% vision with glasses or contact lenses).
ATTENTION: A scan, photo or PDF file of a sight impairment certificate attesting to the disability must be attached when uploading entries, otherwise entries will not be considered.
Participation is free of charge.
Art.2: THREE AGE CATEGORIES
A: up to age 12.
B: age 13 to 18.
C: age 19 and over.
Art. 3: REGISTRATION
The registration form is available to candidates on the website: www.artandlowvision.be.
The information provided by participants will be strictly reserved for members of the organizing committee for the purposes of this contest, in compliance with the law on privacy.
ATTENTION: Any information found to be misleading will automatically result in the participant’s exclusion.
Art. 4: DECLARATION ON HONOR
The participant will declare on his honor to have created the works presented himself within the three years preceding the date of the competition.
Art. 5: WORK TO BE PRESENTED
1 work max. of your choice: drawing or painting or sculpture.
Format: free choice
Art. 6: THEME AND SUBJECT
No theme or subject is imposed. The subjects must respect good morals.
Art. 7a: DESIGN TECHNIQUES: DRAWING AND PAINTING
The production method must be clearly indicated on the data sheet:
– manual (traditional materials)
– digital (computer-based)
– hybrid (digital and manual)
Media: paper, cardboard, wood, plastic, fabric, canvas, glass, etc.
Drawing with pencil, felt-tip pen, charcoal, pastel, etc.
Painting with watercolor, gouache, acrylic, oil, etc.
Works produced by several people will not be accepted.
Art. 7b: PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES: SCULPTURE
The method of implementation will be clearly indicated in the data sheet:
Materials used and dimensions.
Works produced by several people will not be accepted.
Please note: The photo submitted must include a montage of 3 views of the work.
Art. 8: THE USE OF COLORS
The jury will make no distinction between black and white or color works, for medical reasons.
Art. 9 : DEADLINES
The October 1st deadline for downloading the work must be scrupulously respected.
Art. 10 : COMPOSITION OF THE JURY
The jury will be made up of members from the worlds of art, media, ophthalmology and social work.
Art. 11: SELECTION OF WORKS
The jury will select the proposed works based on the digital files.
The jury will evaluate the works presented according to the following three criteria:
Harmony and artistic sensitivity,
Originality of the message,
Quality and complexity of execution.
Art. 12 : PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD
This prize will be decided by visitors to the exhibitions and by electronic ballots available on the website.
Art. 13: EXPOSURE
No original works will be exhibited. Quality reproductions of the works will be accompanied by a label stating the title of the work, the artist’s name and nationality, age (for children and teenagers), technique used and dimensions.
Art. 14: ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS
The results will be announced as part of the final exhibition at the OB Congress in Brussels at the end of November. All participants will in due course receive an invitation for two to attend the event .
The overall ranking will be e-mailed to all participants after the announcement of the results and the winning paintings will be displayed in the “Gallery” on the competition website.
Art. 15 : OWNERSHIP OF WORKS
The original works presented will remain the property of their author.
Art. 16: PUBLICATION RIGHTS
The organizers reserve the right to use and publish the works submitted solely for the purposes of promoting this competition. This provision is valid for Belgium and abroad, for any publication in the written, televisual and digital press, without any time limit.
ATTENTION: If a participant objects to the use of his/her name, image and work for advertising or promotional purposes, he/she must make this known by ticking the box provided on the entry form.
Art. 17 : COPYRIGHT
Under no circumstances will participants be able to claim payment of any copyright on the works they submit to this competition.
Art. 18: CLAIMS
No recourse is possible against the conditions of organization, the progress and the results of the competition, the decisions of the organizers and the jury being final and without appeal.
Art. 19: ACCEPTANCE OF GENERAL REGULATIONS
Participation in this contest implies acceptance of these rules.
The organizing committee will rule on all cases not covered by these rules.
