General regulations

Art.1: CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

The competition is open to anybody with an officially recognized sight disability (less than 30% vision with glasses or contact lenses).
PLEASE NOTE: The scan or photo of a certificate of visual impairment attesting to the disability must be attached when uploading the works, otherwise the registration will not be validated.
Participation is free.

Art.2: THREE AGE CATEGORIES

A: Up to 12 years old.
B: from 13 to 18 years old.
C: from 19 years old.

Art. 3: REGISTRATION

The registration form is available to candidates on the website: www.artandlowvision.be.
The information provided by the participants will be strictly reserved for the members of the organizing committee within the framework of this contest, in compliance with the law on privacy.
PLEASE NOTE: Any information that proves to be false will automatically result in the exclusion of the participant.

Art. 4: DECLARATION ON HONOR

The participant will declare on his honor to have created the works himself within the three years preceding the date of the competition.

Art. 5: WORKS TO PRESENT

Number: 2 works max. Drawing and/or painting.
Format: 100cm x 80cm maximum.

Art. 6: THEME AND SUBJECT

No theme or subject is imposed. The subjects must be in respect of good morals.

Art. 7: REALIZATION TECHNIQUES

The method of implementation will be clearly indicated in the data sheet:
– manual (traditional materials)
– digital (on computer)
– hybrid (digital and manual)

Support: paper, cardboard, wood, plastic, fabrics, canvas, etc., excluding glass.
Drawing with pencils, markers, pen, charcoal, pastel etc.
Painting in watercolor, gouache, acrylic, oil, etc.

The works will be flat without relief additions.
Works produced by several people will not be accepted.

Art. 8: THE USE OF COLORS

The jury will make no distinction between black and white or color works, for medical reasons.

Art. 9: COMPOSITION OF THE JURY

The jury will be made up of ophthalmologists, social workers, personalities from the arts and the media.

Art. 10: SELECTION OF WORKS

– First selection

The jury will select the submitted works based on the digital files.

– Second selection

The jury will determine the final ranking of the exhibited works during the OB23 Congress in Brussels,.

Art. 11: PUBLIC’S CHOICE AWARD

This prize will be nominated by the exhibition visitors and electronic ballot.

Art. 12: TRANSPORT OF ORIGINAL WORKS

Works can be sent or brought by appointment to the address indicated before the deadline.
Uncollected works will be returned at the participant’s expense after the holiday rush.
The people delegated to collect works must be duly authorized by the participant.

Art. 13: EXHIBITION

The exhibited works will be accompanied by a label mentionning the title of the work, the name of the artist and his nationality.
No sales can be made during the event.

Art. 14: ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS

Participants with one or two winning entries will be notified by email as soon as the jury has deliberated. The final ranking of the competition will be sent to all participants and the winning works will be exhibited in the “GALLERY” on the website.

Art. 15: DEADLINES

The deadlines for sending and collecting the works must be carefully observed.

Art. 16: OWNERSHIP OF WORKS

The works presented will remain the property of their author.

Art. 17: INSURANCE AND LIABILITY

Public events related to the competition are insured against civil liability by the organizers.
Return transport and participation in the final exhibition will be at the risk and peril of the participants.

Art. 18: PUBLICATION RIGHTS

The organizers reserve the right of publication on the works presented and this only within the framework of the promotion of this competition. This provision is valid for Belgium and abroad, for any publication in the written, television and digital press and this without limitation in time.
ATTENTION: If a participant opposes the use of his name, his image and his work for advertising or promotional purposes, he must make it known by ticking the box provided in the registration form.

Art. 19: COPYRIGHT

Under no circumstances will participants be able to claim payment of any copyright on the works they submit to this competition.

Art. 20: RECOURSES

No recourse is possible against the conditions of organization, the progress and the results of the competition, the decisions of the organizers and the jury being final and without appeal.

Art. 21: ACCEPTANCE OF THE GENERAL REGULATIONS

Participation in this competition implies acceptance of these rules on the part of the participants.
The organizing committee will rule on all cases not provided for in the regulations.
